The Girl who Entertains the Post Office People

So, at the beginning of the month I decided that I wanted to be a ukulele-playing stand-up comedian very badly. I have no clue why I even thought of this in the first place, I just woke up one morning and knew. That evening in the car, I told my parents I wanted to perform comedy songs. My mom said that if I really wanted to be a comedian, I should work on an act to perform at local mic shows. That's right up my alley, and I've been writing new songs a ton lately! There's just one minor problem... People get confused when I try to make a joke, but I'm funny on accident. Here's an example:

Last weekend, I was in the post office with my dad. I was shipping some boxes to LA and England, and the cost was two dollars more than I actually had in my wallet. I looked up at my dad who was standing right next to me and asked, "Dad. May I please borrow two dollars?" I was smiling at him because I was just so excited to finally get my packages to my friends shipped. I guess everyone in the post office translated that into me trying to sucker my dad into paying for my shipping because the post office full of customers and workers all started laughing. One man even said "If I had a dollar for every time I heard that!" I laughed too, because I realized what they all thought I had meant! My dad laughed and said he would just use his credit card and I could pay him back. Around the time that the worker man behind the desk handed my dad back his card, I looked down at my address book and saw money sticking out of it. That's when I realized I had left singles in it! So then I said (apparently too loudly) "Oh wait. You didn't have to pay it for me! I forgot I had money in my address book, too!" Well of course that got translated wrong too and everyone thought I had tricked my dad into paying for me! At this point, everyone in the post office was laughing hysterically, including my dad! I have to admit, it was a pretty funny experience. From everyone else's point of view, at least! I wasn't embarrased or anything. I'm actually glad I made all of those people laugh. I just need to work on the "make them laugh on purpose" bit. It'll get there. I know it will. :)

Eggdrop Soup Recipe!

So, a month or so ago I discovered this really simple recipe for an eggdrop soup that I can eat! I have many food allergies but strangely, eggs are not one of them. This soup is so good, very light, and easy to make. If you have an egg allergy, you can still make this soup without the eggs. Also, if you listen to Patsy Cline while making this meal, the whole cooking experience is ten times better! <3

Step One: Put a large pot on the stove and turn it on high.

Step Two: Once the water is boiling, add noodles (I'm allergic to wheat, so I use potato noodles).

the noodles!

push the noodles down into the pot
Step Three: Wait six minutes for your noodles to cook, and then pour them into a strainer.

I pour cold water on the noodles because potato noodles fall apart and leave a wierd coating once they're cooked (the water washes off the coating)
Step Four: Pour two (1 quart) containers of chicken broth into the (now empty) pot, and turn the stove on high again.

Step Five: Add one handful of fresh thyme to the pot of broth and let it all boil.

Step Six: While you are waiting for your broth to boil, crack and wisk three eggs into a small bowl.

make sure the eggs are wisked thoroughly!

Step Six: Once the broth is boiling, add the cooked noodles into the pot.

Step Seven: Slowly stream in the eggs with one hand, and constantly stir with the other! This adds the little eggdrops in the soup, and it's rather tasty!

Step Eight: Pour a serving into a bowl and enjoy! (I use chopsticks with this meal because it's the easiest way to eat it,  and also because I love eating with chopsticks! Ha ha.)

Have a fabulous day, and let me know if you try out this recipe! As a girl who's allergic to TONS of food, this is one of my favorite meals ever and I'm so happy to be able to share it! <3

Eat Happy!

 Love from, Grace.

Being Sixteen - Introduction

Being sixteen. What does it mean? I'm still trying to figure that out. It's been a whole month since my birthday and I still get almost queasy thinking about it! Perhaps it's the fact that everyone still thinks I'm 12 (if I had a dollar for every time my grandpa asked me when I was going to be a teenager!). I definitely don't look sixteen. But then again, I don't feel mentally sixteen either. Alice In Wonderland is actually a surprisingly accurate portrayal of my life. I know who I am and what I want to be, I just don't know what I'm supposed to be, or where everything else is at. I'm terrible with maps. Throughout this entire year, I hope to find out what "being sixteen" actually means (but if you know, please fill me in!).

My name is Grace. I'm sixteen years old and I live in the Buckeye state - Ohio. I'm not a trend-follower. I dress up in crazy outfits. I usually "don't match", but I'm most comfortable standing out anyway. I play the piano, guitar, and the ukulele. I have an older sister and an older brother. I am the youngest by five and a half years. Last March I convinced my parents to buy six baby chicks from the local Tractor Supply. Maisy, Daisy, Lilly, Wendy, Junie, and Sally all live happily in a big cage in our backyard by the woods. Besides the chickens, I have a dog named Jenny, a cat named Bowling Ball, and a hamster named Boo. I love acting and I've been involved in theater programs since I was ten. I'm homeschooled so that I can manage a disease I have called Eosinophilic Esophagitis. I know, it's a mouthful! The disease is an allergy disorder, so I have many allergies I have to tend to. Some of the big ones are wheat, soy, dairy, rice, and corn. I love snow, movies, chocolate, writing songs, making movies with friends, and traveling! I also used to be a gymnast and so I love dancing and exercising. My mom owns a yarn shop and I work there on the weekends. I love making people laugh, being on stage, and fashion design. But sometimes it's fun to just have time to do small crafts and write letters to my friends. I'm learning French and Swedish, and I can do a killer British accent!

So, this is an introduction to my life. I love having fun and thinking outside the box. Have a lovely day!

Yours truly,
Grace.
