Being Sixteen - Introduction

Being sixteen. What does it mean? I'm still trying to figure that out. It's been a whole month since my birthday and I still get almost queasy thinking about it! Perhaps it's the fact that everyone still thinks I'm 12 (if I had a dollar for every time my grandpa asked me when I was going to be a teenager!). I definitely don't look sixteen. But then again, I don't feel mentally sixteen either. Alice In Wonderland is actually a surprisingly accurate portrayal of my life. I know who I am and what I want to be, I just don't know what I'm supposed to be, or where everything else is at. I'm terrible with maps. Throughout this entire year, I hope to find out what "being sixteen" actually means (but if you know, please fill me in!).

My name is Grace. I'm sixteen years old and I live in the Buckeye state - Ohio. I'm not a trend-follower. I dress up in crazy outfits. I usually "don't match", but I'm most comfortable standing out anyway. I play the piano, guitar, and the ukulele. I have an older sister and an older brother. I am the youngest by five and a half years. Last March I convinced my parents to buy six baby chicks from the local Tractor Supply. Maisy, Daisy, Lilly, Wendy, Junie, and Sally all live happily in a big cage in our backyard by the woods. Besides the chickens, I have a dog named Jenny, a cat named Bowling Ball, and a hamster named Boo. I love acting and I've been involved in theater programs since I was ten. I'm homeschooled so that I can manage a disease I have called Eosinophilic Esophagitis. I know, it's a mouthful! The disease is an allergy disorder, so I have many allergies I have to tend to. Some of the big ones are wheat, soy, dairy, rice, and corn. I love snow, movies, chocolate, writing songs, making movies with friends, and traveling! I also used to be a gymnast and so I love dancing and exercising. My mom owns a yarn shop and I work there on the weekends. I love making people laugh, being on stage, and fashion design. But sometimes it's fun to just have time to do small crafts and write letters to my friends. I'm learning French and Swedish, and I can do a killer British accent!

So, this is an introduction to my life. I love having fun and thinking outside the box. Have a lovely day!

Yours truly,
Grace.
